SunCruces Angels (SCA) is an independent non-profit member-based organization and the only angel investment platform dedicated to the West Texas and Southern New Mexico region. SCA is located in the West Texas ‘Borderplex’ area, one of the most dynamic and fastest growing regions in the country.
The mission of the SunCruces Angels is to be a source of educational content and experiences for angel investors, as well as a source of business acumen for the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem. SCA aims to provide the necessary resources and introductions to capital for the development of local talent and start-ups, which includes education, mentoring, and access to a larger network of angel groups.
The Vision of SunCruces Angels is to play an active role in the transformation of the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem through its advocacy, members and programs.
SunCruces Angels was founded in 2021 by a group of local investors and community leaders who believe that early stage investments in local startups can spur economic growth in the region. The angel investors at SCA have copious amounts of experience in a variety of different industries and offer their time and mentorship, in addition to capital, to local entrepreneurs to keep the culture of entrepreneurship thriving in the region.
SCA was created out of necessity. Local investors realized that it was not only taking far too long for entrepreneurs in the region to connect with investors, but that there were also numerous obstacles and impediments preventing burgeoning entrepreneurs from receiving guidance and feedback for basic queries such as whether they had a viable business idea. Instead of ignoring these issues, local angel investors sought to become part of the solution by launching a mechanism for entrepreneurs to seek both funding and mentorship as they look to establish their businesses. Thus, the SunCruces Angels investment group was born.
